Keep it Copasetic

Spring break is going to be pretty busy for me trying to catch up on hours I need to put in at the Daycare in Orway for my college class. I have to have a total of 135 hours by the end of the class and am only at about 45 hours, so I still have quite a bit to go. I’m excited to be around the kids that much; I absolutely love children. Other than that, I will be working and just hanging out with people. Oh, and I am going to try and work on my quote analysis stuff, but me saying I will do it and actually getting it done are two totally different things.

One interesting thing I learned this week is that J.K. Rowling got the name “Potter” from some children in the neighborhood she grew up in. They claim now that the young boy is Harry and that he and Rowling used to dress up as wizards, however, she barely even remembers the boy. I just thought it was interesting that she got the name from someone she knew.. well was at least acquaintances with.

I’m working in a group with Adrianna, Natasha, Deidra, and Marlene for my social action project. We’ve decided to do a fashion show on the acceptance of people and their different beliefs/styles/sexuality/race/culture. The show will just be an awereness project to promote people to be more accepting and not descriminate against others.

This week, yet again, has been spent pretty much reading my book when I have the chance. Me and Adrianna got together some this week and researched J.K. Rowling on the internet and found some good information. I learned that her mother dieing changed the way she wrote and the feelings Harry had about losing his parents.

Yea, so I’m totally an idiot and hit only save instead of publish and this didn’t get posted right away… now I feel smart

My project is going about the same as last week; I’m just reading through the book and marking some passages I like. I’m reading the 7th Harry Potter book, so it is very long. My biggest problem at this point is having the motivation to work on my project since I still have so much time.

  One thing I’m interested in is making our community look nicer. There are many places in town where there are empty lots with weeds. These places can be turned into gardens that would be a nice place for people to visit. Improving the look of our community will make it a better place for travelers to visit, and possibly want to stay and visit places around LJ like Bents Old Fort.

   Another thing that interests me is recycling. Plastics take 100 to 500 years to decompose. Our landfills are already overfilled with trash. Why fill them more with things that will take hundreds of years to go away when you can recycle them? Recycling will help save the environment for future generations.

My project is going alright so far; I have my book and have started reading it. One of my struggles has been not being able to work on the project due to being sick or just plain ol’ not having time. There is still a couple months before my project is due though, so I’m not worried. Until next time, goodbye!
